When can I get in touch with the captain/skipper?

The timing depends on your charter type. For crewed charters, we can provide the captain's contact details upon request. For bareboat charters with a hired skipper, you can request the contact information 1-3 weeks before departure.

What is the Charter Fee?

The Charter Fee is an additional, obligatory cost, which typically includes the end cleaning of the boat, home port fees, and linen & towels. The details of the charter fee differ depending on the boat, location and charter partner.

Are there any other costs I should be aware of?

There are marina fees and fuel costs which vary depending on the type, duration and location of your sailing holiday. Marina fees need to be paid at each marina you choose to dock overnight - the amount varies but you may be able to find this information in advance by contacting the marinas directly. Fuel costs depend on whether you’re sailing a motorboat or a sailboat. You can estimate fuel costs by double-checking your chosen boat’s engine, and the expected distance you aim to sail.

Do I need a boat license to drive a boat in Ibiza?

You can rent a boat without a boat license in Ibiza when the boat is up to five meters long and holds a maximum motor power of 15hp or a sailboat that’s up to six meters long; you are only allowed to sail during daylight hours without a license

If you do have a boat license, the following applies according to Spanish law:

  • EU citizens can operate a boat in Spanish waters with a valid boat license, eg a French citizen who received their boat license in France can operate a boat in Spain

  • EU citizens who received their boat license in a country other than their country of origin must prove that they are either a resident in that country or have been at the time of receiving the license, eg a French citizen who has a Portuguese boat license must prove that they are either a resident in Portugal or have been at the time of receiving their boat license

  • If you are an EU citizen and want to head into Spanish waters with a boat that you rented outside of Spain, you can do so considering the restrictions explained above

  • Non-EU citizens need a specific certificate to operate a boat in Spanish waters - they can apply for it through a consulate
